It is a form of medical transportation for people who do not require immediate medical attention. The goal of non-emergency medical transportation is to provide safe and comfortable travel to medical appointments for ambulatory or disabled clients. Transportation occurs in an Ambulette equipped with a hydraulic wheelchair lift and other safety features. Typical uses are for routine medical/dental appointments, dialysis or other outpatient medical procedures.
Medicaid covers non-emergency medical transportation services, while private insurance and Medicare typically will not.
We accept cash, credit cards, and check.
While we don’t require pre-payment, it is customary to receive payment upon the completion of a transport. If payment is not possible at the time of transport billing can be arranged in certain circumstances.
Not generally. Our primary goal is to get you to your primary destination on time. However, especially for longer distance or duration trips, we will make stops if they are essential.
There is no extra charge to bring a family member. In fact, we actually encourage it - as long as they are there for support and not using the service for their own medical/transportation needs.
As a non-emergency medical service, we will take the appropriate actions by calling 911 and making sure there is a transfer to the nearest hospital. We will contact the family of the client, as well as the original receiving facility.
All of our drivers are fully qualified and commercially licensed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). All of our drivers are background checked, drug screened and undergo a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical evaluation. Our drivers are trained to provide the safest most comfortable usage of assistive equipment such as wheelchairs and their required safety and securement devices. Also, all of our drivers are certified and compliant with New York State DOT Article 19-A codes and regulations and must also pass a DMV passenger endorsement test for their commercial licenses.
